Traffic Advisory – July 4th Celebration Weekend

Traffic Advisory: July 3–4, 2026

Motorists should expect increased traffic, pedestrian activity, and occasional delays throughout the Town of Windham during the July 4th Celebration weekend.

Main Street (Route 23) will experience heavier-than-normal traffic throughout the weekend due to community events and holiday activities. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, use caution, and watch for pedestrians.

Parade Road Closures – Saturday, July 4

To accommodate the Independence Day Parade, temporary road closures and traffic restrictions will be in effect beginning prior to the parade start at 7:00 p.m.

The following roads will be partially and temporarily closed or subject to traffic control:

  • Route 296 (from Route 23 to the parade staging area)
  • South Street (from Route 296 to the parade staging area)
  • Main Street (Route 23) along the parade route (between Route 296 and Windham Hose Company No. 1)

Roads will reopen as soon as it is safe to do so following the completion of the parade.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes, follow posted detours, and obey directions from law enforcement, fire police, and event personnel.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we celebrate Independence Day and America 250 in Windham. Happy Fourth of July!
