Please be advised that the Town Water Department will be conducting routine hydrant flushing for the Windham water system on Wednesday, October 7, and Thursday, October 8, 2026.
- Dates: Wednesday, October 7 & Thursday, October 8, 2026 | Approximately 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Affected Area: Windham water system ONLY
- Not Affected: Hensonville system
Residents & Businesses:
- Limit Water Usage: Please do your best to limit water usage between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM on flushing days. This helps minimize water turbidity and ensures a faster “clean-up” time at your tap. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
- Discolored Water: If you experience temporary discoloration after hours, run your cold water tap for a few minutes until it clears before using appliances like washing machines or dishwashers.
Travel Safety & Caution: Please use caution while driving or traveling through active flushing zones. Be mindful of water on the roadway, service equipment, and personnel in the area.
Ongoing Maintenance Schedule: Going forward, routine hydrant flushing will be conducted semi-annually in the spring and fall for both public water systems. Regular flushing is necessary to maintain system integrity and supply high-quality water to all consumers.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions, please contact the Town Water Department.
